Granny Square

3rd Round

3rd Round

Turn your work around and continue in the opposite direction for this round.

Chain 4 (counts as 1st treble and 1 chain)

In the same place, work 3 treble.

In the space between the next 2 groups of 3 trebles, work 3 treble.

In the next chain space, work 3 treble, 1 chain, 3 treble.

Repeat the last 2 steps for the next 2 sides and chain spaces.

In the space between the next 2 groups of 3 trebles, work 3 treble.
In the same place as you worked the 1st 4 chain, work another 2 treble and slip stitch under the 4 chain as you did on the 1st and 2nd rounds.

You have now completed your 3rd round.

Continue working in this way, turn your work after each round, work 3 tr in the space between groups of tr along the side and (3 tr, 1 ch, 3 tr) in each chsp on the corners.

Each round you work will have one extra space on each side.

You may find it helpful to mark the 1st 4 chain of each row so you don't work past it.

Why do I turn my work after each row?

1.  I was taught to do it this way as a child.

2. It makes the square reversible, there is no right or wrong side.

3.  The work turns out straighter.  Working the same way all the time makes the square a little wonky.

Make a square without turning and look at the difference.
