MILES AND BARR LETTINGS - RAMSGATE

Without going into too much detail I would like to warn as many people as possible to stay clear of :-

MILES AND BARR LETTINGS

They are absolutely useless and have no interest in doing their job in a professional manner.

If you are a landlord there are many other agents to use in the area, particularly if you want to get your house back in an acceptable state.

In my opinion Miles and Barr lettings has got too big too quickly and it has affected their overall level of service. The staff are rarely available to speak to on the phone. They rarely get back to you when they say they will. They do not carry out inspections and take no responsibility for this which means that when damage is done to your property they do nothing about it. I could go on and on and on however, this is not a rant but merely a warning!

I cannot vouch for the sales but as for Miles and Barr lettings.........
                .........DON'T GO THERE

THANETS PARAMEDICS! (AMBULANCE SERVICE!)
I would like to name thanets paramedics for their brilliant job! Everyone who lives in or drives around thanet knows how often these guys are whizzing around the isle of thanet, constantly helping people. Its not an easy job and its made even harder when they have to try to squeeze through traffic jams and deal with the hoards of drunken yobs on a friday/saturday night. nevertheless they "usually" arrive pretty quickly and do what they can while helping you to the hospital. In June i had to call 999 because my father "god bless him" collapsed and sadly died in the street, the ambulance arrived in no more than 5 minutes!!! they did a brilliant job and did everything they possibly could with the means nessecary in their ambulance so i would like to take this chance to say a heartfelt massive THANKYOU for your service. We all apprieciate your hard work and hope you continue to do a great job.

MOBILITY SCOOTERS..... AGAIN

I have a gripe about those mobility scooters that old people use. I live in Margate and was stuck behind one of them going really slowly, as I stepped to the side to get in front of him he swerved and knocked into my daughter who is three. Neither me nor my daughter got an apology as he sped of and then ploughed through another 20 or so people trying to walk in the opposite direction. He was on his way to the Patisserie/Cafe next to Lloyds TSB on Margate High Street (I think it’s called Captains) and low and behold there were about 3 of those mobility scooters parked outside. I think we should question the right to whether or not they are allowed on the pavement, they have become a menace just like skateboarders, cyclists and rollerblades only they are probably more polite then the old B*****D that swerved into my three year old daughter. Police should be tighter on them and there should be fines for people found riding these on the pavement. Had I been on a narrow strip of pavement my daughter and I would have had to walk on the road!!!

So old people you probably have a free bus pass provided by the council, use it and leave your scooters at home, pavement is meant for shoes and not wheels.

I was coming from Birchington High Street today minding my own business and chatting to my boyfriend asyou do. When this atypical scooter races up behind us and started moaning to get past. Now i know the law and know that when on a pavement they should lower their speed to 4mph max. not being a slow walker i knew this nam was going to fast so i refused to let him past and asked him to lower his speed and wait.
He started abusing us and pushed his way past hitting my hand/arm and broke a finger nail !
This is a very nasty man and as such i have taken a picture so you can all beware him.
He mentioned that we have no respect for the elderly, well sorry you arse, it is you that has no respect for pedestrians pal !
Why should we tollerate these annoying people? Most are ok using these devices, but this is the second time this has happened to me and i am getting rather pissed off about it. I feel some tintacks will be left in my purse for the next i am out and this appens and they will not be getting home via their motorized transport !

grand turk my girls were cadets a few years ago. they sailed on the grand turk as part of a team from the sea cadets my daughters are not good swimmers but the co from the cadets had put down they were. which i found out later. they sailed all the way to scarborough they did the night watch all alone in the pitch black sea all around them and no lights were allowed on the deck they were not supervised in any way and they were scared to say the least my daughters are not wimps in any way.i thought they would be safe, nothing happened but if it had of i would of never seen them again. the lesson i have learn is its all crap there are no rules people just make them up as they go along and bend or break them according to rank.my girls have nightmares still so the grand turk you can keep a chance of a lifetime to sail on it dont bother

Hi,

This little car passed me on the dual carriageway from Birchington to Westgate doing about 85 mph. I was quite surprised to see a Lady impatiently tapping her steering wheel at the red lights by the Westgate Library. On green, I accelerated to the allowed 40 mph, when she overtook me on the LEFT at around 65 mph. My passenger managed to snap this photo, which I now take delight in showing on this page.(click 'little car' ).

Madam, I don't know your name, but, I can certainly shame your driving attitude here.

An accident waiting to happen!

The mobility shop by arlington house!
My dad brought a mobility scooter from there six weeks ago and has only rode it for two hours max. Due to health reasons he can no longer keep it and asked them if they would buy it back of him. he paid £1495 for it. They said they would only pay £400 for it. When my dad told me i thought he was joking!! This is disgusting of them as they would sell it for probably the original price again! Never go there they are a disgrace and i hope that they read this message.

Had to take a picture of this extremely rude bit of parking! Its just one of the many times I have had to walk in the road because of the idiots visiting the fireplace shop in Birchington. I feel sorry for the mums with their pushchairs.

I would like to shame all those people who constantly complain and moan unjustlyabout the fantastic bus drivers in Thanet.Nothing is said of the trouble makers down and outs and general whingers they have to deal with at any time of the day or night.Nothing is said of the illegally parked cars that the buses have to miss, nothing is said when a bus driver is trying to get us to our apointments on time only to be held up by the person with a twenty pound note for the smallest of fares, nothing is said when a bus driver is being spat on, and being verbally or physically abused, yes at times I suppose our bus drivers may seem to be acting like pigs, but should not some members of the general public check out their birth lines as well !!!!.Come on you bus drivers you do us proud.

As a Ramsgate resident who had a stroke at the age of 43, may I add something to this thread. Firstly, Blue Badge Holders are not allowed to park anywhere. If the vehicle causes or is likely to cause an obstruction, then a parking ticket would be issued. No question about that. You are incorrect that anyone is able to obtain a disabled badge. You have to be in receipt of the highest component of Disability Living Allowance which means you are unable to walk more than a few yards without stopping or through pain. You also have a medical before you can get DLA. I will name and shame the following. TESCO, both Manston and Westwood. WICKES. ALDI. NETTO. B&Q. All these stores allow indiscrimate abuse of the disabled spaces without ever even so much as a word to the offender. In Ramsgate there are actually only 5 disabled bays in the Town Centre and yet there are 3,000 blue badge holders. Is something wrong?? Brian

Hard to get a badge ??? you only need to cough loudly ( sorry, say you have a bad back that no-one can prove and Bob is your auntie's next door neighbour )

I agree after many years of working with the law the old biddies on the scooters are illegal they need nicking when they come barging up behind you and they wont get past me im 6 feet 6 and 20 stone but super -fit so they had better be quick on their handle controls they are also miserable old buggers.

I hereby name the Thanet District Council Traffic Wardens to be shamed into embarrassment!
Many times do they IGNORE dangerously parked cars along Margate seafront-Canterbury Road,
all the way from Margate to Birchington, yet, in a quiet little Cul-de-Sac, they PERSECUTE the

i want to name and shame thanet council parking office

The parking wardens turn a blind eye to traffic congestion in our towns of thanet and walk the other way when work to do.
also they put "24 hours" on some pay and display parking areas and the machines are not checked after 6pm and even funnier the wardens dont work night shift yet they con us into thinking that someone will check our cars for tickets after they have gone home ha ha ha...dont pay for a ticket after 6pm they are at home dossing and laughing about all the tickets they issued.

Watch out for Dennis Flory our dennis is a right wassock he issued a police c ar a ticket a few years ago and his dad was a police inspector for nearly 40 years he could have retired after 30 what a pair of wassocks!!

I WOULD LIKE TO NAME & SHAME
DIANE CANNON & Builder Boyfriend TERRY of Canterbury Road, Westgate-on-Sea,
who should win the "bad landlady of the year" award.

DIANE CANNON, owns a house on Shottendane Road, Margate - She rents this house out to myself and a mate who has a young daughter, for £535 a month, the house is let as a 2 bedroom house, albeit, the loft space is open and has a built in bed, yet it is not legally allowed to be used as a bedroom, this is because there is NOT proper provision for a staircase.(we use all 3 rooms, my mate is my mate, not a civil partner!, thought i'd clarify that)

9 weeks ago, the box room's (occupied by my mates daughter) ceiling came down at 3 a.m, leaving everything covered in 100yr old dust, plaster, etc - fortunately, my mate had asked my opinion on the crack showing on the box room ceiling, i told him she shouldn't sleep in here tonight, just as well with what happened!, not forgetting 10 loads of washing, all her clothes, bedding, etc.....
The acting agent was promptly informed of the collapse accompanied by photographs of the crack before and after the event.

The agent shall remain nameless as i don't have a problem with them, however, the agents have been in touch with Diane Cannon (owner, landlady) who refuses to comply with the Tenancy Agreement, namely, section4 , subsection 4.2 and i quote " the landlord will return to the tenant any rent payable for any period during which the property may have been rendered uninhabitable by fire or any other risk which the landlord has insured" - well, guess what?, her insurance paid for the ceiling to be replaced!, so whats the problem i hear you say??

As stated at the beginning of this problem, the room is still not usable, we are now in our ninth week of not being able to put my mates daughter back in there - the landlady wholly refuses to comply with this tenancy agreement, i have started the ball rolling with my solicitor, he is just waiting for me to give the nod and go ahead, i have given the landlady 24 hrs to comply with a final request for some kind of compensation or go to court.

So if you are thinking or renting 3 Hillview Cottages, Shottendane Road, Margate, Kent CT9 4NE - Think again, the house has a whole host of many other problems, too many to list, not forgetting, the uncaring, unscrupulous landlady, who lies and denies everything!
The house is being let by a very well known property "Letting Specialist" based in Broadstairs High Street, who again will remain nameless for a myriad of reasons that i don't care to mention - You know who you are, thanks M*****e ;)

Sadly, the tenancy agreement forbids me to sign post this problem directly outside the premises, otherwise i would have had a banner put up with a 4ft font type for all to read!, but then, surely if the landlady is in breach of the tenancy, i may as well make it a "one all" situation and flout that stupid, space-wasting tenancy agreement that seems to stand for nothing, which reminds me, i'm running out of toilet paper!

If you choose to rent this property, don't say you were not warned! ;)
DIANE CANNON - SHAME ON YOU AND YOUR SO CALLED "BUILDER" BOYFRIEND TERRY, WHO ALSO REFUSES TO TALK TO US.
TERRY - YOU SEEM LIKE AN OKAY KIND OF CHAP, PERHAPS YOU WOULD CALL ME AND HAVE A CHAT - MAN TO MAN? (you have my number), i've tried this approach too, but the man has no b***s!
DIANE - i assume you are doing this house rental thing on a shoestring, give it up darling, you are out of your depth! :)

Polite, as usual,
Mark - Current Tenant

I would like to name and shame the bus driver who caused a big scene in Brunswick road, Birchington on monday morning(8th may 2006) about 9.30. There was a man who had stopped his car in the pouring rain to post a letter in the small post box - the man had left plenty of room for passing vehicles but the bus driver pulled right up to the front of his car, blocking his exit, and just sat there leaving the car without enough room to continue on his way. The car driver got out and tried to speak to the bus driver. The bus driver started shouting and swearing at the young man, even though he was clearly in the wrong. After a few minutes of this the young man realised that the bus driver was just an ignorant pig who would not see sense so he got back into his car and reversed across to the other side of the road and back some fifty or so yards , just to let the bus continue and bring an end to this farce. If the car driver reads this I would like to say well done for being so patient and diplomatic whilst being so unnecessarily verbally abused. I, like most of the people travelling on the bus that monday morning ,am elderly and even now I feel quite shocked and upset by the incident so I will not be travelling on the bus again.

i would like to name and shame the idiots who obstruct the local bus service. the ones that park at every bus stop, even though there is a big sign painted on the road, a bus stop sign, and a raised kerb to allow disabled to get on and off. the drivers of cars who think it is clever to overtake at every opportunity even if the road is not clear in front, the ones who are not aware of the highway code rule that states, and i quote:- rule 198, give priority to these vehicles when you can do safely, especially when they signal to pull away from stops. and not to forget the idiots that want to use the buses as target practice at every oppurtunity day or night, the idiots who want to write every concievable bit of dribble on the seats and walls, it would help if they could spell! thank heavens that the drivers are easy going, or we could have a battle.

I would like to name former Chief Supt George Rogers Head of Thanet Police. And I would like to name Kent Adventure Training Corps former adult instructors Lloyd Barton and George Maison.

In 1987 Maison was arrested for paramilitary activity contrary to the Unlawful Drilling Act 1819. This was to do with activity in which Maison had involved himself within the Territorial Army. His fellow adult leader of KATC (a pal then of current leader of KATC Clive Richards) had attempted to join Maison in the TA but the TA had been unable to verify Barton's claims about having been a former Regular Army soldier.

A Betteshanger Colliery worker came forward to police (case officer was George Rogers) and gave a statement that Maison had approached him with some mad idea that mining explosives could be stolen, for Kent Adventure Training Corps cadet training purposes, from the Kent mines.

These KATC adult leaders escaped proper police investigation because they were regarded as fantacists. But what of police liaison with the KCC Youth Group Affiliation Service to review whether or not KATC should enjoy the status of affiliation to KCC Youth Services. Thanet parents, understandably, take that affiliation WRONGLY that affiliation implies that youth groups are vetted as suitable for their children to attend.

BARTON went on in 1988 to gain work as a civilian security guard at Deal Royal Marines barracks. At that time the REME Association (An Army Corps Assn whose Thanet branch was chaired by George Maison) were unable also to verify that Barton had served as a Regular Army soldier .. they were checking because the Thanet Branch of the REME Assn (chaired by Maison) had made an application for REME welfare funds on behalf of a claimed former REME soldier Lloyd Barton.

Given the history .. two official failures to verify his claims to have served with the Regular Army ... attempts to obtain explosives ... arrests under the Unlawful Drilling Act 1819 ...two people came forward and asked police to review security at Deal Royal Marines Barracks.

And once again the idea that military fanacists are harmless seemed to sway the immature judgement of Kent Police.

Whether or not there is any cause and effect between the substance of the warnings and the later tragedy (the barracks was blown up by the IRA 22.9.89 and eleven Royal Marines were killed) the fact remains that Kent Police, like all constables, have a prime duty under the CRown to PROTECT LIFE. They failed in their duty.

See http://www.preventableterror.co.uk And you can read that IF Kent Police had checked properly they would have alighted on yet another associate of George Maison ... a certain employee at Cummins (formerly Petbow)

Then please read again the Final Prayer of John Allen (see icon on home page of this site)

Once again TDC fall into the "Shame on you" category. There is a good thread within the Under 25's chat area concerning the lack of ameneties in this area for people that can get out and about to enjoy themselves. Why after all these years can't the local council twig onto the idea that people want something to do in Thanet. We want things like a massive Aqua park, an Ice Skating Rink, A decent Theme park. OK, it costs millions, but what has happened to all the money we the tax payer has piled into the council over the years? They can't keep up this "Take, take, take" attitude and put nothing back in. If companies can afford to build Westwood Cross so quickly, and expand it, then surely TDC must see that there is investment money available.
Name me one person that wants the utterly pathetic money wasting program called "The Turner Centre", certainly no-one I know in Thanet. WE WANT SOMETHING TO DO.
These simple items would draw tourists in like a magnet, give people in the surrounding area something to do, regenerate the area and bring millions back into the area. I am getting fed up of seeing hundreds of "Retirement" Homes being built by greedy property companies that draw the elderly and infirm into the area, what chance have youngersters around here got of getting onto the property ladder or even making something of themselves? All businesses SHOULD be forced to pay a percentage of their turnover into the Thanet Regeneration program. This may take a couple of years but it would be well worth it.

Whilst I am at it, is the hose pipe ban still in place? I have just returned from a well earned rest in the hot and arid Turkey, and they have no water shortages what-so-ever, they even have constantly running water showers for you to rinse your car, garage forecourts and shop frontages being hosed down every morning etc etc. Surely if a 3rd world country can pipe water in, we can too???

To add to the naming and shaming of people parking bus stops i would like to add to that those who parks on chevrons next to pelican crossings (which is a bannable offense ! ) . And to name and shame the useless traffic wardens and coppers in Birchington who ignore all these idiots and let them carry on doing it.

IT IS DANGEROUS AND AWKWARD FOR ALL CONCERNED !

And i think the worst thing about those who commit this offense are disabled badge holders who seem to think it is a license to park anywhere, including junctions, loading bays, across driveways, turning round in one way streets and the list goes on. As much as i agree that those in need of badges should have them they are all too aften abused by the holders, not only that but given out willy nilly to anyone who has anything more than a nosebleed.

WAKE UP YOU BADGEHOLDERS AND STOP MAKING HIGHSTREETS AWKWARD FOR THOSE WHO NEED TO USE THEM !

I want to shame Thanet Council Work Department.

At the begining of 2003 they scheduled works to be carried out arround Invicta House, Margate. At the end of 2004 they had not compleated all the works but published an article celibrating the quick compleation (with photos of the painted twoer block).

We are now approaching the end of 2005 and the work is still not compleate. For example the "new" entry phones to be installed in Appledore Close and Elham Close are not all working and this has become common knowledge with door to door salesman regularly trespasing inside the building(s) knocking on doors.

Well done TDC - The council claims that work was carried out on time and to standard and yet it is still not finnished... and none of it was to any standard.

This site has more photos and docuemented the worst of it but a lot more has gone unreported that needs to be pointed out.

I would like to name and shame people naming and shaming. This world has enough bad feeling toward each other without people making others feel worse. And what if you make a mistake or "human error", i don't think you would like someone doing this to you.

Someone was a little grumpy, and? Maybe they had a bad day. A store doesn't do something right?... then it's a training issue...

In reply to the guy of the "PC Plonker" issue.. Ok, so you had a problem with the Dixons group in the past and there maybe many a person that has the same thoughts. You walk in with that thought and it's going to happen...And yes, website prices ARE going to be cheaper than in store. Maybe because you went in and complained about it is why they wrote off the difference in the first place..

I know this places me in the league of the moaners, however, it has to be said..

And there also too many people who just put up and shut up !!!

We have the right to name and shame and it is about time that more do !!!

Number 8 bus (canterbury to westwood cross) drivers. although this is the quickest route to get from broadstairs to westwood cross the drivers arethe problem. twice i`ve waited for it at westwood cross to see the bus pull in, turn round and drive straight out without stopping (bearing in mind this is the start of the route) other times the bus leaves early or doesn`t stop at bus stops on route. also the timetable and the electronic displays in the shelters in broadstairs say every 20 minutes during peak times yet during the afternoons on school days they dont goto westwood cross. telephoned the bus station at canterbury who said they would correct the timetables - new timetable out a while ago and it still shows every 20 minutes!! so you`re stuck with the chavs on the loop bus!!
