RICHARD SHARPE HAD SOME REVOLTING ENEMIES IN HIS TIME AND HERE ARE THOSE PEOPLE. I WILL SAY IF THEY WERE KILLED BY SHARPE, WHAT BOOKS THEY WERE IN AND IF THEY WERE ON THE BRITISH OR FRENCH SIDE.

Sharpe’s Enemies<o:p></o:p>

 <o:p></o:p>

  • Charles Morris, 33rd West Yorkshire and Riding. Sharpe’s company commander he is a lazy coward and conspires to have Sharpe flogged with Hakeswill. He is assaulted by Hakeswill in Triumph but the blame is put on Sharpe who really assaults him at Gawilghur. He is later a Major in the Dublin garrison. Sharpe’s Tiger, Triumph, Fortress, mentioned in Company.
  • Obadiah Hakeswill, Sergeant, 33rd West Yorkshire and Riding later South Essex. The man who recruits Sharpe he is one of the most evil men Sharpe will ever meet. He and Captain Morris lies to have Sharpe flogged so that he can try and get his lover Mary Bickerstaff, Sharpe being sentenced to a lethal 2000 lashes though only receiving 201. He is put in with the Tippoos tigers by Sharpe for betraying him and Lawford to the Tippoo but unfortunately they had been fed. In Triumph he lies again saying Sharpe assaulted Morris. Hakeswill murders Colonel McCandless at Assaye and is then put in with the Elephant but again the wily Sergeant escapes. In Fortress Hakeswill tries to have Sharpe killed by Naig’s brother but again is foiled and deserts to join Dodd’s Cobras inside Gawilghur. Sharpe finds him after the assault and shoves him into the snake pit after taking back all his lost jewels. No one knows how he gets out and he reappears in Company to find Sharpe a Captain while he joins the South Essex. Tries to assault Theresa in Elvas but is foiled by Harper and Sharpe. Hakeswill then frames Harper for theft and Harper is stripped of his rank and given 60 lashes. In the attack on the dam at Badajos he tries to shoot Sharpe but only wounds him. He then strips Sharpe’s riflemen of their prided green jackets. During the storming of Badajos he hides himself and murders a Lieutenant who tries to move him on. Hakeswill then, after Wellington’s troops finally break through he tries to rape Theresa and held a bayonet to Sharpe’s daughter’s throat and murders Lieutenant Robert Knowles but is foiled by the arrival of Sharpe and Harper. He then deserts and appears in Enemy as ‘Colonel’ of Pot au Feu army of deserters and he rapes, murders and tortures those he decides on. The deserters are beaten and Hakeswill temporally escapes twice before he murders Theresa and is given to Sharpe by Colonel Dubreton. He is sentenced to death and shot but survives the first volley and is killed by Sharpe. Sharpe’s Tiger, Triumph, Fortress, Company, Enemy.
