On 17th November 2002, Robbie Williams did a webchat, in which Jonny took part in. You can read part of this below:
Q: "What do you make of Jonathan Wilkes as a transvestite?"
Robbie Williams says:
"It's actually very scary, come on in Jon. [Jon sits on the couches] This is Jonathan Wilkes, he's actually my flatmate!!"
Jonathan Wilkes says:
"Flatmate? You can’t call this a Flat!"
Robbie Williams says:
"He actually lives in my Pop Star Mansion with me He's doing the Rocky Horror Show and he is Frankenfurter and he's amazing in it. He’s ab-so-lutely amazing, go and see him!"
Jonathan Wilkes says:
"Thank you"
Robbie Williams says:
"It actually really scared me the first time that I saw him. [To Jon] How tall are you out of your heels? JW Six Foot, 2”. RW He’s Six Two and when he’s doing it he’s about 6’6" in heels and actually he’s my mate and we wear track-suits like for a livin’, we wear track suits (laughter) and then I came to see him on his opening night and he’s got all the get up on him, 6’6”, massive heels, basque, stilletteo and your stockings …actually it’s just like Thursdays and Fridays ‘round here! (laughter)
Actually I was a bit intimidated and bit scared. I didn’t want to speak to you or look you in the eye. Did you remember?"
Jonathan Wilkes says:
"Even when I came home the other night and I was still in a bit of make up you couldn’t talk to me. It was just he was in his mascara when he comes home and it’s like he’s in his basque and suspenders and I’m like 'go and get that off before ye come and play table tennis!' And it took quite a while to get used to it and I'm still not really but I know it’s only for a living and it’s not for real life"
Robbie Williams says:
"But of course what you must know is all of my celebrity girlfriends and of course Jonathans lovely, lovely finance, they are all beards and we are totally gay."
Jonathan Wilkes says:
"Totally Gay"
On 12th October 2002, an interview with Jon appeared on Channel4 teletext. You can read it below:
'Jonathan Wilkes recently played Jesus and Judas in Christian show 'Godspell'. This current part's the total opposite. In 'The Rocky Horror Shows' 30th anniversary tour he portrays transvestite Frank N Furter, so he's prepared to be heckled.
"I'm a bit nervous but it's all part of the character" he says. "Fortunately I've had a lot of training working in clubs (and his own shows at Blackpools Pleasure Beach) for 3 years. You've gotta give as good as you take."
Rocky Horror star Jonathan Wilkes is more famous for being Robbie Williams' flatmate and best friend than for any of his own accomplishments. But in his 24 years, the Stoke-on-Trent lad has achieved plenty. The ex-pop singer and sometimes SM:tv presenter won the Cameron Macintosh Young Entertainer of the Year award at 17. With movie roles on the horizon, Wilkes is on the road to becoming famous in his own right.
Jons Frank N Furter costume would rival that of even the most glam drag Queens.
"I'm 6'2" tall but 6'6" in my heels - so I'm a big lad" laughs Wilkes, "My managers were very scared of me!"
"I've got really big football thighs which's funny, and I'm wearing fishnets and suspenders. When I get it all on I look daunting and indestructable. A couple of girls in the cast said they found it really sexy."
For separate legs of the tour, Big Brothers 'Nasty Nick' Bateman, Rhona Cameron and Christine Hamilton are acting as the narrator in the show.
"It should be fun" says Jonathan, "especially with Rhona. She's a comedienne and in that part you're set up for a lot of stick. I think she'll be able to handle it, and people will just be scared of Christine. Nasty Nick's an interesting one - he has to live up to a name like that."
Jonathan Wilkes recently returned from the USA where he was having meetings about film parts he's been offered.
"I can't talk openly about it at the moment but hopefully I'll be able to soon. A lot of musicals have also been offered, it's encouraging - I love it."
At the beginning of October, the tour kicked off in Bromley, Kent. 'The Stage' newspaper wrote an article on the show, which you can read using the link below:

The pair, who have been friends since childhood, previously recorded a cover of ‘Me and My Shadow’ for Robbie’s number one album, ‘Swing When You’re Winning’.
According to tabloid reports, another duet between the two is already in the pipelines. “There’s definitely going to be a duet with a certain Mr Williams,” explained Wilkes. “A new song Rob has written with his writing partner Guy Chambers.” Wilkes’ debut single ‘Just Another Day’ reached number 23 in the UK charts last year.'
