The main race is the THE GRIMTHORPE CUP (CLICK  ABOVE FOR SHORT HISTORY) ,run over four miles and one furlong  .

The course is alongside the A64 York road and is six miles from the racing town of Malton with the city of York  just 10 miles away.

There are two car parks  the main one gives good viewing from the car if you get there early.

This is the oldest course in Yorkshire still in use.Racing started here in 1927.

Starting with their backs to the hill the runners take a plain fence before meeting the open ditch(with a deep brook running in front of it) the rest of the fences are plain and all jump well .The run in is short from the last turn with one fence to jump.A vist to the open ditch is a must.

The Middleton used a course at Howsham before moving to Whitwell-on -the-Hill
