Ian Marshall’s Six-to-Follow UPDATE 20/4/08
DAN’S HEIR OUT FOR SEASON
trained by Annabelle Armitage
Rated 125 and twice successful in novice hurdles when with Patrick Haslam, this fellow will still only be a six-year-old in 2008. He has taken well to hunting and the new environment should have freshened him up. Due to be ridden by Yorkshire champion Jacqueline Coward, he will be aimed at Ladies Opens on the sharper tracks.
DUCHESS ACCOUNT WON THREE ,SECOND inc THE GRIMTHORPE GOLD CUP
trained by Charles Brader
A winner of 11 Point-to-Points, this home-bred mare is renowned for her guts and courage. Whilst she has had stamina in abundance since the outset of her career, Duchess Account displayed scintillating speed to record a dual success at Mordon in 2007. After beginning in Ladies Opens her main target will be the Grimthorpe Gold Cup where she will hold a serious chance.
FINKLE STREET NOT SEEN
trained by Mary Sowersby
This one’s form figures are rather uninspiring as they consist solely of letters. However, he has been desperately in need of the experience and the summer has done Finkle Street the world of good. He has been persevered with by a stable that possesses plenty of maidens and ought to be good enough to pick up at least a race of that type.
MOORAMANA WON -3rd (Whitingham)
trained by Stewart Beaumont
Under Rules, Mooramana was campaigned mainly at around two and a half miles, but horses of this sort can often make the transition to pointing with aplomb. The winner of a chase, he has been on the sidelines since August 2006. His return to action is eagerly anticipated and he should make his presence felt in Confineds and Mens Opens.
RECENT EDITION SECOND,WON
trained by John Wade
Recent Edition is another recruit from the professional game, where he showed some decent form in chases over three and a quarter miles and further. Yorkshire Champion Chris Dawson is the intended pilot and the gelding will be campaigned in Mens Opens where the emphasis is on stamina. He will be a formidable adversary in these events and could make the step up to Hunter Chases.
SOUTHERN CLASSIC SECOND,WON
trained by Cherry Coward
Bought out of Emma Lavelle’s yard, he displayed glimmers of ability in a handful of attempts over hurdles and remained fairly unexposed, even starting favourite for his handicap debut. Staying three miles at the pace of Point-to-Points should not be a problem and he is the type that the stable excel with. It will be a surprise if he doesn’t have a Maiden in him.
Redstars Six-to-Follow
ANDRE CHENIER THIRD WON SECOND
trained by Mary Sowersby
To be ridden by owner Chris Cundall. Reported to be full of life and sure give Chris some good rides.
CHARLIES MEMORY WON
trained by Cherry Coward
Some poor shows in 2007 but will be sound for this term - Cherry will make sure of that; will run in Ladies Opens.
GEORGE THE GREY WON SECOND FELL WON
trained by David Easterby
Still a Maiden, Oliver Greenall’s one to watch.
LETUSBEFRANK FRONT RUNS
trained by Gill Walford
Laura Eddery’s new horse; won two points to date. Hopefully he’ll go Hunter Chasing later in the year (don’t rule out a good show from Laura’s other horse, Del Trotter, that came good later on in 2007).
MISS TOSCA WON -THIRD
trained by Tina Jackson
Tina thinks a lot about Miss Tosca. A brilliant jumper and stays well. She’s massive, you can’t miss her (Miss Tosca not Tina ).
NETWORK OSCAR WON THREE TIMES /FELL
trained by David Easterby
The great man himself tips this one (not David but Mick). Jumps well and stays all day.
